Course Description

The Building Inspector course is for High Rise and Hazardous Structures (HHS). This course covers topics such as structural systems; design and analysis; fire protection and safety systems; special use of occupancy; advanced mechanical systems; design principles for heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems; energy conservation and other related topics. It provides students with the fundamental knowledge and educational experience required by the state for licensure under this title. The course can only be taken after you complete Building Inspector Residential and Commercial Structures (RCS) and Industrial and Commercial Structures (ICS).
 
The N.J. Uniform Construction Code requires candidates for licensure to complete specified educational programs. Licensing is based on a combination of education, experience and testing.
 
Call the Department of Community Affairs at 609-984-7834 for information on specific licensing requirements. Students must follow established prerequisites. A portion of student tuition may be refunded (subject to availability of State funding) provided students adhere to NJ state guidelines.
 
Your instructor will be in touch regarding what textbooks are needed for the class. You must have the textbooks by the 1st class.

Prerequisite: Building Inspector ICS Note: Courses designated as ONLINE are Remote Live Courses that are instructor-led and held on the scheduled class days and times using a secure online platform, i.e. Zoom or Canvas.
