Course Description

Blueprint reading courses are designed to teach students how to interpret technical drawings used in construction, engineering, and design. In this course, students will learn to understand and interpret symbols, scales, and dimensions, turning them into buildable objects. They also learn about the different types of views, such as floor plans, sections, and elevations. The course often includes hands-on practice, allowing students to analyze real-life blueprints from already built projects and develop the skills needed to visualize structures before they are constructed. After these prints are studied and analyzed, a trip to the project site may be arranged to see the drawings come to life. By the end of the class, students gain the confidence to read and apply blueprint information in practical settings, preparing them for careers in project estimating, project management, project takeoff, architecture, and construction.
