Course Description

This micro-credential aims at training history and genealogy enthusiasts on the basic skills needed to identify relevant oral content, obtain background information, organize a story, develop a questionnaire, and create a record for Middlesex County Oral History Archive: Our Memories, Our Communities.

Middlesex County has a rich history of courage, innovation, conflict and resilience. Those stories lived on our neighbors within ourselves. This class will equip you to process those stories and make them available to our county audience.

Besides being accessed through the Middlesex College Library, the Middlesex County Oral History Archive is also available via Middlesex County History Hub. As a result, it offers an opportunity to engage county researchers and educators in our county community.

Course content will be available online for participants to complete asynchronously through Google Classroom. Individual meetings will be scheduled between participants and faculty to work on the record and its digitalization.
