Course Description

The 60-hour Fire Protection Inspector HHS (High rise and Hazadorous Structure) course provides students the fundamental knowledge and educational experience required by the state for licensure under this title. Fire inspectors inspect building plans to ensure that they meet fire codes. They also examine buildings to detect fire hazards and ensure that federal, state, and local fire codes are met. The course is for high-rise and hazardous structures and can be taken after you have completed Fire Protection Industrial and Commercial Specialist (Industrial and Commercial Structures). This course covers techniques for plan review, materials testing, field inspection, fire protection systems, and report writing.

The N.J. Uniform Construction Code requires candidates for licensure to complete specified educational programs. Licensing is based on a combination of education, experience and testing.

Call the Department of Community Affairs at 609-984-7834 for information on specific licensing requirements. Students must follow established prerequisites. A portion of student tuition may be refunded (subject to availability of State funding) provided students adhere to NJ state guidelines.

Your instructor will be in touch regarding what textbooks are needed for the class. You must have the textbooks by the 1st class.
